After researching DSD, I decided to let my ears decide for themselves. On a Harmon Kardon receiver,Sony SACD player, with Yamaha home theater speakers I sat back.Wow. Longer answer: I was 13 on the day this was released as a 2 record set,I got it and "Mark, Don, & Mel" together, and the only thing on my turntable for the next 2 months were they. Short answer: Yes. Crystal clear, like I was in the studio. Decades later, the cassette for my car. Then my son bought his own CD copy in the 90s. I'm 50 now so I can't take this technology for granted,I'm in awe of it, and more importantly,am grateful for it. Waiting 16 years for the RIGHT way to remaster was the right move ABKCO.
let alone the political, religious and ethnic persecution that goes on in the rest of the world on a daily basis along with all the rest of it and it is clear that this singular rock anthem is more relevant today than it ever was when it was released way back when in 1969. to hear 'gimme shelter' in it's best form ever is worth the price of this remastered cd all by itself.
i've had the origional version for years that was released on cd way back in 198-. this came in the mail just last week.
the background vocals and backing instruments are all here to be heard and enjoyed now, it's like the code has been broken and now we all know what they [the stones] were trying to tell us. this newer remastered disc is just what i expected, clear, crisp, rich sound.
everything is that more expressive. if you're a stones fan or whatever do yourself a favor and spend the $23.00 or so and get this providing you have a good enough stereo system to enjoy this.update: 6/22/09 "gimme shelter", with all the upheaval and violence going on in iran right now and the trouble with north korea, then throw in the ongoing mass starvation, the aids epidemic, the drought, the ethnic cleansing along with the rape of women and children and the refugee disaster in much of africa and other places.
"if i don't get me some shelter.oh yeah, i'm gonna fade away".
this set of singles from the rolling stones should be in everyone's cd collection, period. the ultimate classic.
its a classic. this one has been around long time. it has all the essential older stuff. its loaded with stones classics. its a must have because it covers the early years.
Sensacional. La primera época de los Rolling Stones, llena de imaginación y de buenísimas canciones.
